The British Fenestration Rating Council (BRFC) have brought out a new method to calculate the energy efficiency of replacement windows. This is to comply with part L1B of the new Building Regulations and will be implemented on 1st October 2010. The regulations state that all replacement windows must have one of the following …
• Window Energy Rating of Band C or higher
• A declared U value of 1.6 W/m2k
Note: the BRFC rating is on a scale from A-G with A being the most energy efficient and G being the least.
Benefits of good a Window Energy Rating
Using C rated windows or higher will significantly reduce the amount of energy lost through your windows. With this in mind, your home will be more environmentally friendly therefore your heating costs will be reduced.
